The shewee is the perfect solution for women

It was just recently, when I was jogging along the road on my weekend run that I was plagued by the urge to ‘go’. It wasn’t an urge that could wait and I looked around desperately and considered my options. They included the roadside where I could wave merrily to the passing cars, or perhaps behind the spindly tree by the roadside where there too I could wave or maybe I could knock on the door of the house with that unfriendly looking dog eying me suspiciously. Finally I succumbed to the spindly tree option and found part relief until I could go home. I definitely ran faster. Coincidentally I was reminded of the article about the shewee that I had been requested to write and needless to say I got right on it.
The shewee is a recyclable, reusable, compact, portable urinating device for woman. It allows women to ‘pee’ standing up, with complete privacy (no bearing of anything) and cleanliness. Angela Claydon and her husband Dave are from Kimberley and have sole rights to the shewee in Canada. Angela, originally from the UK, bought the shewee for herself and was hooked. She called up British inventor Samantha Fountain and eventually arranged to sell the product in Canada. She hasn’t looked back.
Claydon says the shewee is the perfect solution for women in many circumstances. She lists the benefits as primarily allowing women to stand up to pee in any situation. For example when participating in any outdoor activity or sports, in the car, for urine samples, in hospitals and if bound to a wheelchair. Claydon says that the design of the shewee enables it to be used by all women, commenting that it took the inventor six years to perfect the fit of the device. She comments that to date the shewee has been up Everest twenty times and is currently being used by the British and South African Military.
As far as marketing goes in Canada, the shewee is doing well. With sales increasing every month since its introduction, Angela and her husband foresee themselves working full-time selling the shewee by 2010. Currently they take the shewee to trade and local shows and are selling it in a few retail outlets in the country. Angela laughs when she describes people’s reactions. ”There are three kinds of reactions,” she says. “Firstly shock and horror and those women who say they never pee, then there are those that just totally get it and then there are the baffled ones who eventually see the light.” Nevertheless the couple agree that the shewee is always the talk of the shows.
Here in the Kootenays, the shewee is popular with skiers and skidoers as well as boat owners. Claydon remarks that some of the men love it as they don’t have to take their female companions to shore. The couple is aiming to introduce the product to the Canadian military and are very proud of the way it can be used by the disabled and in hospitals. Claydon says that one of her wheelchair bound clients commented that she feels much freer and is able to use the shewee herself now without having to wait for her carer.
The shewee is available in a number of colours and the product range includes an outlet pipe to provide extra length when wearing bulky clothing as well as a carrying case and absorbant pouches. The shewee is available in Kimberley at Natural Attraction and through the website, www.shewee.ca. Angela Claydon and her husband Dave can be contacted for sales on 250 432 9197/9198 or at sales@shewee.ca and they are always looking for more retailers and distributors. I for one can definitely see the attraction of the shewee and there will be no more spindly trees for this runner.
